After waiting about 10 weeks I finally got my brand new car: a Škoda Fabia Greenline (1.4 TDI DPF/59 kW). As its name suggests it is designed to be economical and environmentally-friendly. Its CO2 emissions do not exceed 109 g/km while only consuming 4.1l/100km (that is, according to the ads).
The equipment is based on the second-generation Fabia Ambiente featuring a few performance optimisations like tyres with low roll resistance and various aerodynamic optimisations. On the inside, it features a stylish MP3 CD player with an external audio connector (for my iPod 
) as well as a semi-automatic air conditioning system. Things like electric front windows, electric heated mirrors as well as an adjustable steering wheel round off the experience.
Even though it is a relatively small car, the new Fabia manages to effectively use the interior space in order to provide a more-than-reasonable level of comfort.

Hello Michel, I come from Denmark and consider buying the Greenline Fabia. I read your piece about your new car and wondered if you are satisfied with the car. The Greenline model is fairly new and I have not been able to find any experiences with the car – besides your description. Is the car as economical as Skoda promises?

Hi Bernd. I am very satisifed with the car, apart from a few negligible disadvantages (e.g. no drawers under the seats). I have a kilometre reading of about 2’300 now. On motorways I have an average consumption of about 4.2l/100km. In cities it uses about 4.5l/100km.
