Spellchecker.lu (Free spellchecker for the Luxembourgish language
After almost exactly two years after the initial release, the free spellchecker for Luxembourgish now has a new website, a nicer logo, an improved online checker as well as a thesaurus (synonym dictionary).
- URL: http://spellchecker.lu
- Release: May 2008
- What I did: The website is based on Wordpress and K2. I created the visual identity (web design, logo) and created the online checker (based on TinyMCE). I also did most of the work for the wordlist that the spellchecking engine uses.
LCGB.lu (Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtleche Gewerkschaftsbond)
After csv.lu went online (see this post), I was asked if I wanted to do the new website for the LCGB, one of the two largest confederations of labour unions in Luxembourg. The job consisted of a complete rewrite of the code and a restructuration of all the information.
Most importantly, the new site is much richer in terms of content than the previous site. On top of this, user friendliness has been increased. The most important pieces of information are now always reachable from the left column, so users literally have them at their fingertips, whereas the navigation menu on top consists more of an archive.
- URL: http://lcgb.lu
- Release: February 2008
- What I did: I did the project management as well as all the coding for the project. The Symfony framework was used as a basis for a custom content management system (screenshot) that has some interesting features, like for example change detection (screenshot). Now that a clean foundation has been established using modular components, new areas can now be added easily to the site.
I also created the CSS code based on the original design and made it compatible with all major browser including IE, FF, Opera, Safari as well as Konqueror. - Design by: 4com
Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (CSV.lu v2007)
During my summer 2007 holidays I was working on the new website of the CSV, Luxembourg’s largest political party at a software development company called Eleven. After having created the previous website of the CSV a few years ago I was asked if I wanted to help out during my summer holidays. As the project involved Web 2.0ish stuff such as user generated content, blogs and videos (and most importantly image reflections
) I decided to take the job.
- URL: http://csv.lu
- Release: Summer/Fall 2007
- What I did: I wrote a good portion of the code. Most of all, I developed the core of the content management system based on experience obtained from previous projects. I also created the CSS code based on the original design and made it compatible with all major browser including IE, FF, Opera, Safari as well as Konqueror.
- Project management: Eleven
- Design by: Advantage
This ist the website of the local CSV section in Luxembourg-City. It is online since the 1st of September 2005. I wrote the backend of the site, whereas the layout has been created by Binz Communications. The CSV being the largest political party in Luxembourg, this project has been pretty important for me. The administration area uses the same principles as that of csv.lu, so that the people already administrating csv.lu could start working on csv-stad.lu without losing any time. You might also notice some other similarities between those two sites, especially with the way news items are displayed.
- URL: http://csv-stad.lu
- Release: Summer 2005
- What I did: Everything except the design. I reused the core of the content management system that I developed for csv.lu.

Voyages Wengler (outdated)

I created this site together with Marc Giombetti. It features searchable hotels, last-minute- and group-trips, online booking and much more. We wanted to make the administration-area as clear and simple as possible, without leaving any functionality behind. The administrators of the site can create own pages using a WYSIWYG-editor, change the side-menu and manage most of the aspects of the site by themselves.
- URL: http://www.voyages-wengler.lu
- Release: Winter/Spring 2004
- What I did: I shared the workload with Marc. The most significant contribution by me was the content management core which I reused from previous projects and customized for this specific project.

Membership administration software for the CSV

The membership administration software of the CSV currently (as of 2007) manages its over 10′000 members.
- Release: 2003. Significantly updated over the years after the release.
- What I did: I planned and developed the entire application. The core component is an adaptation of the content management software I have previously used for my web site projects.
Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (outdated)

I wrote the complete backend for this site (csv.lu). The design was made by imedia, but I have made some smaller changes in the meantime. In April 2005, I made a very large update and added several new functionalities. Here are just a few of the additions:
- a function to export events from their online-agenda to the vCal- or iCal-format,
- an extensive (but nevertheless easy-to-use) administration interface,
- a system for their local sections to manage their own subdomains,
- a new search engine,
- as well as many more interesting features. (Actually I wrote a 20-pages document for them where all the changes are listed).
In June 2004, a few weeks before the elections, I did an interview (in French) with RTL.lu about this project.
- URL: http://csv.lu
- Release: Fall 2002. Significantly updated over the years after the release.
- What I did: Everything except the design (see details above). The core of the content management system is an object-oriented and modular framework that I have developed specifically for this project. I have since then used it for several other projects.

The CSJ is the youth-organisation of the CSV. I used a CMS called phpWebThings to build their website and I wrote several modules like the photo-gallery, the documents and the agenda. People who create an account at the site, can select events from the agenda which will then be shown on my.csj.lu.
- URL: http://csj.lu
- Release: Fall 2002
- What I did: Everything except the design. The site is based on a free content management called phpwebthings which I contributed to at that time.
